CHALLENGES
The company has existed for more than a hundred years and development based on continuous technological progress plays a key role in its sustainable success. Today, without exaggeration, NISSAN is an innovative leader, and not only in the automotive industry. Therefore the company presented its car at the UEFA Champions League in an innovative format, that reflected its progressiveness once again. NISSAN’s participation in various events is organized by the TRO Experience Agency, that asked us to develop an interactive exhibition stand.
Stand or simulator ... Why should we choose?
The idea of a street stand where visitors can enjoy an amazing combination of football and modern technology – is this not a challenge? An interactive football field where everyone can feel like a professional football player having checked their speed and reaction is not an easy task. This is the work of a whole team of narrow-profile specialists: designers, engineers, planners, production specialists. They are tried to create the most realistic, comfortable and safe conditions both for “players” as well as for spectators.

Behind the simplicity of the external structure – a rectangle of 20×10 meters, it was necessary to hide the high-tech “stuffing” with a huge amount of detail. Three holes were placed inside the walls of the stand from different sides, in which were placed “cannons” that shoot soccer balls. The center of the stand was equipped with a special floor covering and interactive marking – backlighting, which pointed to the side from which the ball was served. The “player” must take the ball and score a goal. With each subsequent serve difficulty level increased, changing trajectory, speed and dynamics of the game.
An integral part of the atmosphere was the soundtrack, thanks to which the visitor of the stand was completely immersed in the game. After each goal scored, the player heard thunderous applause and the score, which was broadcast on the LED screen. At the entrance to the interior of the stand was a podium with a NISSAN exhibition car. The UEFA Cup was solemnly shown to the audience precisely against its background.

Construction specifics
Creating such a sophisticated high-tech design with an interactive gaming zone involved a lot of difficulties. Technical issues were identified and approved for more than two months – the configuration of the stand itself and the gaming hall, sound system and security system – everything was calculated literally by a centimeter. Considering that the stand should have been located directly on the Khreshchatyk road surface, while manufacturing the carcass, engineers calculated the degree of road slope so that the floor and podium of the stand were extremely flat.
A team of lighting effects specialists each second adjusted the functionality of the interactive lighting system and lighting effects, functioning all elements of which had to be synchronized, namely LED illumination in the floor, two large plazmas in the side walls and a system of spotlights for lighting the playground. Selection of finishing materials for the stand was especially meticulous. It was necessary to replicate the coverage of a real football field as accurately as possible because the behavior of the ball during the game depends on the quality of coating. Artificial black grass specially made for our order in Poland.

Implementation of football field security systems required careful elaboration. Firstly, it was necessary to install a fence in the playing area to protect stand visitors who did not taking part in the game. Secondly, the ceiling above the playing area had to be tightened with a special net to prevent the ball from getting into the stand roof and the spotlights installed there. The installation team met all technical requirements with jewelry precision.
RESULT
As a result, NISSAN successfully hosted series of real individual matches for visitors of the Khreshchatyk fan zone.
The UEFA Champions League helped the company to convey innovation and breathtaking sports spirit to everyone. According to UEFA official data, the final match of the Champions League at the NSC Olimpiyskiy in Kiev was attended by 61 561 spectators. Thanks to NISSAN, many of them were able to feel like professional football players, and we were glad to become a part of this event.

Just a note to thank you for all your hard work. We were really impressed with the extra effort you put in to make the stand look as impressive as it did.
